By training, I have a Master's Degree in Social Work from Columbia University. My fields of practice included homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, and trauma. Early in my social work career I bore witness to institutional and systemic failures that further victimized already vulnerable populations. I craved culture change.

As I advocated to better others' lives, I gradually realized I had denied myself a full and satisfying life. It took extreme circumstances to acknowledge the fact that I could not expect to usher in a new era without first turning my social analysis inward. If I envision a more just and peaceful world, I now understand
I must heal myself.

I am determined to push my spiritual development. To be seen, known, and changed in a society that functions with fewer hiccups when I am silent, invisible, and wretched. Resisting misrecognition in public and private spheres, I invite others to engage with me in all my complexity and contradiction. I challenge the idea that healing is only an 'outside-in' phenomenon and place my own transformation at the center of my activism.
